Program Overview
The MAT is a graduate level initial teacher certification program. This program is designed for candidates that have obtained an undergraduate degree in a field outside of education.

Admissions Information
Progression and Graduation Requirements
- Students must successfully pass BOTH GACE Content Exams (011, 013, 014, or 015) prior to Student Teaching.

Certification Requirements:
Successful completion of State Certification Exams (GACE II) in both (2) areas of concentration:
- (011) Middle Grades Language Arts
- (013) Middle Grades Mathematics
- (014) Middle Grades Science
- (015) Middle Grades Social Studies
Required Courses: 39 Hours
15 hours of undergraduate content in each concentration area are required, with at least 9 of those hours at the junior (3000) level or higher. Areas of content weakness will be addressed as prerequisites.
State Certification Exams (GACE II) in both content areas must be passed prior to student teaching.
