BMEN 5201 - Endocrine System (3 Credit Hours) This is a course designed to present the endocrine system to dental students covering the histology, gross anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology of the system, with special emphasis on concepts and principles related to dental practice. While the course discusses the endocrine system to provide dental students with integrated knowledge of the functional systems of the human body, it also covers specific topics unique to dental practice such as, pregnancy gingivitis, dental complications of diabetes and the relationship between calcium homeostasis and alveolar bone loss.
