ANTH 3290 - Archaeology of the Americas (3 Credit Hours) Examines the archaeology of the Americas from the arrival of the first peoples until European contact. Focuses on adaptations to a changing physical and social environment, including technological changes and the development of agriculture, the rise of large-scale societies and long-distance trade, and the emergence of social ranking systems. Examples are drawn primarily from North America, but may include Mesoamerican and South American case studies as well.
