FREN 3400 - French Phonetics (3 Credit Hours) Students study the articulatory features of speech production of Modern Standard French, and ways of correcting and enhancing oral production. The course includes basic linguistic terminology of articulatory phonetics such as prosody, intonation and the bases of descriptive phonetics. Study includes learning the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), phonetic transcription and the reading aloud of short French passages. Designed for non-native speakers.
