SOCI 3317 - Sociology of Health and Illness (3 Credit Hours) Sociology of Health and Illness In this course, students will become familiar with classic and contemporary sociological theory and research on health and illness (with a focus in the United States), examine social determinants of health (including how health is related to socioeconomic status, gender, age, race, and sexuality), consider research in epidemiology (or the distribution of health conditions), and discuss social stress and health behaviors.
