DMIC 5003 - Cariology



The course presents an integrated study of the multi-factorial aspects of dental caries, including theories of caries etiology, epidemiology, molecular pathology, microbiolgical and biochemical composition of dental plaque, host and nutritional influences on pathogenicity. Approaches to caries prevention including immunization, fluoridation, antimicrobial agents and sugar substitutes are discussed.
