NURS 7310 - Group Approaches in Mental Health-Psychiatric Nursing



Prerequisites: Nurs 7180 Mental Health-Psychiatric Nursing and the Individual Client (Course may be taken concurrently with individual course.) The course will present theoretical concepts basic to group interventions in Mental Health-Psychiatric nursing practice. Theories of group therapy will be analyzed with strong emphasis on group roles, and therapeutic techniques appropriate to the functional level of groups. Community aspects, including the client’s sociocultural, ethnic and economic backgrounds will be integrated throughout the course.
