Financial Aid

The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) is dedicated to providing guidance and assistance for students to help ease the financial burdens associated with their education. We strive to assist our students in funding their education while at Augusta University.

To receive federal and state financial aid, you must meet certain eligibility requirements which include but are not limited to such things as being a U. S. citizen or eligible non-citizen and maintaining Satisfactory Academic Progress.

To apply for federal financial aid, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. To apply for state scholarship and grant programs, students must complete the Georgia Student Financial Aid Application System (GSFAAPS) at www.gacollege411.org.

The financial aid application priority deadlines for each term are as follows: Fall Semester – April 1st; Spring Semester - October 1st; and Summer Semester - March 1st. Students are expected to submit all required applications and support documents on or before the published financial aid application priority deadlines for the chosen enrollment term. Failure to meet the priority deadline may result in incurring your own educational expenses until your financial aid file is complete and aid has been processed.

All scholarships awarded by the Augusta University Scholarship and Financial Assistance Committee require completion of an online general application. Refer to the Office of Student Financial Aid website for additional information, gru.edu/finaid.

New Summer Students: For financial aid purposes, the summer semester is at the end of the award year. You must complete a FAFSA for both the current academic year and for the next academic year. Example: If enrolling at Augusta University during the Summer 2015 semester, you must complete both the 2014-2015 FAFSA (covers Fall 2014, Spring 2015, and Summer 2015) and the 2015-2016 FAFSA (covers Fall 2015, Spring 2016, and Summer 2016).

OSFA provides education funding from sources such as grants, scholarships, loans, and the federal work-study program. We encourage you to explore other financial aid opportunities such as external scholarships. For further information, please refer to our website at www.gru.edu/finaid or email us at osfa@gru.edu.

The OSFA staff will provide individual Entrance, Exit, and Financial Literacy Counseling upon request. Students are encouraged to budget wisely, find ways to decrease student loan debt, and utilize as many resources as possible to ensure a successful educational and financial future.  One such resource is Financial Aid TV (faTV) which provides online videos on many financial aid and financial literacy topics and is accessible through the Financial Aid website.
