Program Overview
This concentration provides students with a knowledge of human communication and communication disorders in preparation for graduate study in speech-language pathology. The pre-professional courses focuses on speech-language-communication development, head and neck anatomy, introduction to a wide spectrum of communication disorders, as well as the assessment and treatment of communication disorders. The pre-professional courses include the required prerequisite courses for application to the Master of Health Science in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) program at Augusta University.
Graduates of the concentration can gain immediate employment as an SLP Assistant or SLP Associate. Due to the critical shortage of certified Speech Language Pathologists, there is a high demand for SLP Assistants nationwide. In addition, the students will earn a Bachelor of Science in Health Services, which prepares students for a career in Healthcare Administration.
