Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Music and an Emphasis in Music Industry Studies


Program Overview

The Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Music and an Emphasis in Music Industry Studies provides students with specific industry-related courses, along with a flexible curriculum that highlights musical interests in theory, performance, music history, and music business.  This program allows students to choose courses in either Business Administration and/or Nonprofit Management, giving our students the edge in creating their own path to success for employment in the music industry.  It shares coursework with the Certificate of Less than One Year in Music Industry Studies .

Program features include: 

  • music industry-specific courses
  • students participate in music ensembles
  • accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music
  • hands-on applications with music production technology and live sound reinforcement
  • collaboration with local music industry and performing arts organization in Augusta, GA

Progression and Graduation Requirements

  • A grade of C or better is required for all courses in the Bachelor of Arts in Music Common and Music Industry Course Curriculums and the Business Support elective courses.
  • All students will take the music exit exam immediately prior to graduation.

Applied Music Lessons: 4 Hours


Select Voice or Instrument courses from the following:

  • MUSA 1XX1 - Applied Lessons: Concentration (1 Credit Hour)
  • MUSA 1XX2 - Applied Lessons: Concentration (1 Credit Hour)
  • MUSA 2XX0 - Applied Lessons: Secondary (1 Credit Hour)
  • MUSA 2XX1 - Applied Lessons: Concentration (1 Credit Hour)

Business Support Courses: 18 Hours


A grade of C or better is required for all courses.

Wellness Graduation Requirement: 4 Hours


Students who begin at or transfer to Augusta University with less than 60 credit hours must complete the Wellness Requirement.
