Bachelor of Arts with a major in Music Education and an Integrated Master of Arts in Teaching

Program Overview

Students accepted into the I-MAT program can begin taking graduate level classes in education during their junior or senior years, depending on their schedule (students should apply to I-MAT program during the fall prior to enrollment in graduate courses). With just one extra year (5 years total), students are able to graduate with both a BA in Music as well as the MAT degree. The I-MAT program is thus a streamlined approach to obtaining a MAT degree. The accelerated program was created to help attract more students into the teaching profession. The Integrated Master of Arts in Teaching (I-MAT) program is a high impact, high quality program designed to generate student desire to attain P-12 teacher certification and to recruit high qualified undergraduate music majors for the teaching profession. Graduates will earn a Bachelor’s degree (BA in Music, Music Education track) AND a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree through this streamlined program. The total number of hours for both degrees is 154 hours. This degree will offer students a competitive edge in the search for teaching careers in the state of Georgia.
