Program Overview

The graduate program in Leadership is a performance-based program that is aligned with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) standards.  Information on educational leadership certification rules, as stipulated by the Georgia PSC, is available on the PSC’s website (www.gapsc.com). Candidates seeking certification in school leadership are responsible for ensuring the M.Ed. in Leadership is appropriate in their respective states.

Progression & Graduation Requirements
  • Achieve a minimum “B” average (3.0) GPA on all coursework in this program.
  • Opportunities for observing highly skilled leaders for growth are documented at all levels (i.e. P-5, 6-8, 9-12, Central Office Administrator).
  •  The candidate has a coach (with a current L5 certificate) to supervise the three residency classes.
  • The candidate has developed an e-portfolio demonstrating knowledge, skills, and application of Educational Leadership Standards and complete the required field experience hours. 
  • The candidate must have attempted the Educational Leadership GACE (Test # 301 before October 1, 2020; Test # 311 after October 1, 2020) prior to completion of the M.Ed. program and must pass the assessment to obtain and Educational Leadership Tier I certificate.
  • The candidate must attempt the Georgia Ethics for Educational Leadership Assessment- Program Exit (Test #380) prior to completion of the M.Ed. program and must pass the assessment to obtain an educational Leadership Tier I Certificate.
