Overview
The MD-Biomedical Sciences MS dual-degree program is a 5-year program designed to provide medical students with the opportunity to enhance their medical training with biomedical science research training. Nine biomedical science majors with multiple electives are available depending on the research interest of the student. The electives are of particular interest to medical students and each prepares a student to enter the physician work force with enhanced competency. Students enroll full-time in the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) Medical School program for four years of study and one year (3 semesters) in The Graduate School (TGS) to complete the MS course work and research. Typically the TGS year occurs between years 3 and 4 of medical school after completion of (and passing) USMLE Step 2 CK and CS. Students who successfully complete all requirements in the timeframe outlined are awarded both degrees at the end of 5 years of study.
