Program Description:
The Management Information Systems (MIS) curriculum prepares students for a future as information systems professionals, innovators, technical leaders, and managers. The program is interdisciplinary in nature with specialized training in information systems, information management, and information technology so graduates can assume managerial positions and provide leadership in information systems innovation.

Career Opportunities:
The job market for MIS graduates is diverse and growing at a steady rate. Graduates may directly enter the information systems function and become information systems specialists that serve as a liasion between information systems and other functional areas within an organization. Employment opportunities exist within hardware vendors, software vendors, consulting firms, governmental agencies and both corporate and non-profit organizations. Typical entry-level positions include consultant, systems analyist and information analyst.

Accreditation:
The Hull College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Scholarships:
Over $100,000 is awarded in scholarships annually and MIS students are eligble to apply for all Hull College of Business scholarships. Interested applicants should visit the Hull College of Business website for more information.

Honor Societies:
Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB international. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB. Admission Into the James M. Hull College of Business:
All aspiring undergraduate MIS students entering Georgia Regents University are admisted as Pre-MIS majors until they meet the pre-requisites to gain admittance into the Hull College of Business.

Pre-MIS majors will need to satisfy the following requirements for entry into the Hull College of Business: (1) completion of at least 45 semester hours; and (2) completion of the following courses with an overall GPA of 2.5 or above in these seven courses: ENGL 1101, ENGL 1102, MATH 1111, MATH 2210, ACCT 2101, ECON 2106 (or ECON 2105) and CSCI 1301. Students may retake any of these courses and only the highest grade in the course will count toward the minimum required GPA.

Students transferring into the Hull College of Business as Pre-MIS majors are only allowed to transfer up to three Junior/Senior Common Courses and no more than two of the Major Emphasis courses as approved by the College.

Requirements for Enrolling in Hull College of Business Upper Division Courses


Students must have met the following admission requirements:

  1. Completion of at least 45 semester hours of courses.
  2. Completion of the following core courses with an overall GPA of at least 2.5 on these six courses: ENGL 1101 , ENGL 1102 , MATH 1111 , ACCT 2101 ECON 2106  (or ECON 2105 ), MINF 2201 .

Major Emphasis: 21


 Grade of C or better is required in all Major Emphasis courses.

Electives: 9


  • Must include MATH 2210  if not taken in Area D
  • No more than 6 hours can be taken within the HCoB

Physical Education: 4


Total Hours for the Degree: 124
