(A Senior Exit Examination is required of all graduating biology majors. A Scaled Score of 135 or higher on the ETS Major Field Test is required. Should a student fail to obtain a score of 135, he/she will be required to take the ETS Major Field Test a second time. Failure to obtain a score of 135 or higher on the second attempt will result in the student taking an oral exam administered by the Department of Biology.)
If a student does not successfully complete a biology course after two attempts (i.e., he/she receives a D, F, W, or WF), the student will be limited to specific registration times for any subsequent attempts. Any student meeting these criteria will not be allowed to register for the course until the last day of late registration. Appeals may be made to the Chair of the Department of Biology in hardship cases.
Students who declare a major in Cell and Molecular Biology will be classified as Pre-Biology majors until they complete MATH 1113 and BIOL 1108 with grades of C or better. Upon successful completion of these requirements, a student will be classified as a Cell and Molecular Biology major. |
