The Office of First Year and Second Year Experiences designs programs which challenge and support the transition of students from high school into college, including the INQR 1000 course (project-based research), Certificate of Leadership (COL) courses, the Jaguar Jumpstart Summer Program (JJSP), and campus-wide events (such as Freshman Convocation and Sophomore Half-Way There). The office (aka: The Treehouse) provides experiences that enhance resiliency/GRIT, increase collegiate purpose (Book Clubs) and support the successful transition out of college (Southern Cities Swing Tour). In other words, we encourage students to “branch out and explore”!
