Undergraduate Programs

Bachelor of Arts with a major in Communication

The Communication program offers a major and two minors that emphasize strong skills in writing, speaking, performance, research, public relations, and documentary photography, videography, and filmmaking through hands-on learning across multiple media platforms. A course in law and ethics is required. Critical thinking, the top “soft skill” that employers are seeking in new hires, lies at the core of the program, which includes specialty courses in health communication, intercultural communication, gender communication, persuasion, and pop culture and rhetoric. The major culminates in a senior capstone, The Agency, a six-hour course in which students complete a pre-professional project and gain practical experience while preparing their portfolios for a thriving and competitive job market. Real-world internship opportunities, on and off campus, are also available.

Minor in Communication

Surveys show that employers want to hire graduates with excellent communication skills. The Communication minor is an excellent way to develop strong skills that will complement any major area of study.

Minor in Theatre

The Theatre Minor gives students an opportunity to learn more about and participate in theatrical activities. The minor fits well with majors such as: English, Art, and Music.
