Program Overview

The Department of English and World Languages offers a certificate to Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages. The TESOL Certificate is a 15-hour undergraduate certificate. The certificate may be completed by any undergraduate, but it is targeted at English or World Language majors. The goal of this certificate is to enable students to teach English to speakers of other languages abroad or private institutions in the United States by providing essential knowledge and teaching skills to students. It includes courses, such as English linguistics, English grammar, culture, and teaching methods. The TESOL Certificate will be awarded at the end of the undergraduate program. It may also be offered to post-baccalaureate students as an add-on certificate. This is an embedded certificate.
