SPED 3002 - Teaching Students with Disabilities in the Inclusive Classroom (3 Credit Hours) Methods for teaching students with disabilities in inclusive settings are described. Definitions and characteristics of students with disabilities are discussed, as well as integration strategies that create safe, equitable and positive learning environments for all students including those at risk of developing disabling conditions. Examined are research-based instructional strategies, models, theories, and philosophies of educating students with disabilities, and how to accommodate and modify to improve outcomes. A 25-hour field experience with P-12 students is required in the course. Candidates must earn a grade of B or better in this course to meet Georgia certification requirements; see 505-2-.24 Special Georgia Requirements for details.
