NURS 8348 - PMHNP Practice III: for the DNP Program
This course provides opportunities to apply knowledge and skills gained in NURS 7352 to clinical practice. The focus is on evidence based practices for family and group therapy interventions for clients with selected mental and substance use disorders. Students assess individuals and families, and select appropriate educational and psychotherapeutic interventions for couples and/or families with mental health or substance use conditions. Students implement and evaluate evidence-based treatments for families across the lifespan. Students participate in group therapy as leader or co-leader of educational, skill building, support, or therapy groups. Students participate in at least one group for children or adolescents, and at least one psychotherapy therapy group for adults. Students participate in individual and peer group supervision sessions facilitated by faculty and/or preceptors.
