Doctor of Nursing Practice with a concentration in Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Program Overview

This program educates advanced nurse clinicians for expert practice in leadership and clinical roles with a focus on care of adult 18 years of age and older that have acute and/or complex care needs. They are often employed in specialty clinics, critical care units, and acute care hospital units. This doctoral-level education provides the clinical and management outcomes. The program enables nurses to become expert nurse leaders and collaborators in solving health care problems in systems. Students may attend full-time or part-time, giving the ability to work while attending school. The program is approved by the Georgia Board of Regents as a web-based program with greater than 50 percent of the program taught online. Currently students are completing the program in cohorts located on Augusta and Athens campuses.

Program Accreditation

The program is fully accredited by Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Graduates are prepared to meet the eligibility requirements for the certification exam offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
