Certificate in Cultural Diversity in Healthcare

Students who complete the Cultural Diversity in Healthcare Certificate will be able to:

  • Appreciate the differences that exist within and across cultural groups and the need to avoid overgeneralization and negative stereotyping
  • Demonstrate knowledge about varying cultural beliefs about health, disease, and treatment that influence health care practice
  • Analyze the development and persistence of health disparities and the impact of access to care in the United States
  • Analyze cultural diversity from a creative and scholarly perspective utilizing social science methods
  • Communicate effectively through accessing, evaluating and presenting information through traditional and electronic formats
  • Demonstrate cultural self-reflection to build cultural competency

 

Honors Track

Area B: 4 Hours

Area E & F: 6 Hours

Other Requirements: 3 Hours

Professional Scholars Track

  • Heatlhy Perspectives (grad requirement for Health Science)
  • Extra-Curricular over the one year (Diversity Summit, Come Out for Health Week, Cultural Heritage Events, and more)
