MOLM 9040 - Molecular Medicine Journal Club
Grade Mode: Satisfactory-Unsatisfactory, Audit This course will provide 1) In-depth discussion of current topics in Molecular Medicine; 2) The opportunity to critically evaluate and present current papers; 3) Discussion of current techniques in the field; and 4) Faculty mentoring of students in career skills (e.g. searching for postdoc positions, job interviews, balancing family and science). Each week the discussion will focus on a current scientific paper, classic techniques paper, or opinion paper, depending on the goal described above. Each senior student (third year plus) will select and present a paper to the class. Presentations will be followed by a class discussion. Feedback on student performance will be provided by the faculty mentor assigned to the topic. Discussions of current techniques and career skills will be led by faculty experts. This course will enhance students’ ability to analyze and present scientific literature.
