    A thorough study of the rules of evidence with specific emphasis on the application of these rules in preparing reports and presenting evidence in the criminal justice system.     This course will provide students a clear understanding of organized crime from social, political and economic perspectives: what it is, how it has evolved, where it stands, where it is headed, and how societies can respond to it. This course will dispel long-standing myths surrounding organized crime and consider the phenomenon in all its forms. This course not only studies the origins of organized crime, it will also analyze current topics of drug trafficking, gangs and terrorism, as well as organized crime groups from South and Central America, Japan, Russia, Ireland, and the Italian mafia.

    This course provides lectures, laboratory sessions and clinical correlations on the cytology and histology of the cells, tissues and organs of the human body. The cells, tissues and organs of the body are studied at the ultra structural and light microscopic levels. The histology of the primary tissues is presented, and then these tissues are used to build the various organs and organ systems of the body. Particular emphasis is placed on the cephalic portion of the gastrointestinal system where the histology of oral and perioral structures are correlated with clinical dental problems. In addition, the processes of tooth development, eruption and exfoliation are covered in detail.

    This course provides basic information for the resident with limited prior experience in physical examination of the human body other than the oral cavity. Information presented is limited to components of physical examination important in the workup of a patient for a dental procedure to be performed under sedation or general anesthesia. It is assumed that, through training in the PGY 1 year, the resident has experience in interviewing a patient, taking a health history, and a thorough understanding of human anatomy and physiology.
