About the College

The James M. Hull College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and offers the Bachelor of Business Administration degree, the Master of Business Administration degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology (IT) and a Master of Science in Information Security Management. Students pursuing the Bachelor of Business Administration degree specialize in one of the following disciplines: Accounting, Finance, Management, Management Information Systems, or Marketing. Additionally, the college offers a minor in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, and Computer Science. The college also offers undergraduate certificates in Analytics, Hospitality Administration, Cyber Defender, and Advanced Cyber Defender.

The Hull College of Business provides a high quality, student-focused education that prepares students to excel in their fields of study and become leaders on a global stage. The programs are highly desirable and develop graduates that are highly recruited. The faculty members advance scholarly understanding and improve the professional practice of our disciplines through collaborative research and service.

The college’s Career and Academic Planning Center provides a comprehensive range of services to help Business, Computer Science, and Information Technology students reach their academic and career goals. The Center is a student-friendly environment that provides students with academic resources such as computer stations, printing stations, study space, a fax machine, and a copier.

Accreditation

The Hull College of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

Honor Societies

Beta Gamma Sigma is the international honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB international. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB. Minors

Courses taken to satisfy Core Areas A through E may not be counted as coursework in the minor.

Scholarships

Over $100,000 is awarded in scholarships annually and business major students are eligible for all Hull College of Business scholarships. Interested applicants should visit the Hull College of Business website for more information.

Transfer Students

Students transferring into the Hull College of Business as Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, Management Information Systems, or Information Technology (IT) majors are only allowed to transfer up to three Junior/Senior Common Courses and no more than two of the Major Emphasis courses as approved by the College.

Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting

Program Description:
The accounting program provides significant exposure to courses in business, finance, and management, and is designed to give students an understanding of the theory of accounting as it is used in our society. Bachelor level students are given a broad background of accounting classes to provide the basic tools to pursue an accounting career. Should a student want to specialize in specific areas, he or she would need to pursue a Master of Accountancy program that allows specialization in audit, taxation, or systems.

Career Opportunities:
The Knox School of Accountancy program prepares students for careers as professional accountants in private, public, or governmental organizations. In addition to the pursuit of an accounting career, an accounting education provides excellent background for non-business professions such as law, and is helpful for advancement to top level management. Students are highly encouraged to participate in internships and experiential opportunities to increase their marketability upon graduation.

Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Finance

Program Description:
Finance studies and addresses the ways in which individuals, businesses and organizations raise, allocate and use monetary resources over time, taking into account the risks entailed in their projects. The James M. Hull College of Business gives students the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge to value cash flow and assets, analyze the financial performance of firms, determine strategies to enhance the value of the firm, analyze portfolios, value financial securities and understand domestic and international capital markets.

Career Opportunities:
Finance students can pursue career opportunities in various non-financial organizations as well as financial service firms such as banks, brokerage firms, and insurance companies. Students can also pursue career opportunities in investment banking and retail brokerage or pursue a finance position in a small firm or organization.

Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Management

Program Description:
The management curriculum provides students with an excellent business education designed to advance them into future leadership roles in enterprise as an individual, scholar, and professional. The primary objective of the management major is to help students develop the global perspective, problem-solving skills, and versatile knowledge base needed to manage and lead modern organizations.

Career Opportunities:
Management majors pursue a variety of career opportunities upon graduation. Some graduates pursue management training programs that prepare graduates for the challenges specific to a particular organization or industry. Other graduates pursue careers in hospitals, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, or start an entrepreneurial venture or join a family business. Due to the solid foundation provided by the management curriculum, career opportunities are endless.

Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Management Information Systems

Program Description:
The Management Information Systems (MIS) curriculum prepares students for a future as information systems professionals, innovators, technical leaders, and managers. The program is interdisciplinary in nature with specialized training in information systems, information management, and information technology so graduates can assume managerial positions and provide leadership in information systems innovation.

Career Opportunities:
The job market for MIS graduates is diverse and growing at a steady rate. Graduates may directly enter the information systems function and become information systems specialists that serve as a liaison between information systems and other functional areas within an organization. Employment opportunities exist within hardware vendors, software vendors, consulting firms, governmental agencies and both corporate and non-profit organizations. Typical entry-level positions include consultant, systems analyst and information analyst.

Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Marketing

Program Description:
Marketing consists of all the activities and processes for creating, delivering, communicating, and exchanging goods, ideas and services to consumer businesses, and society at large. Marketing stresses research and analysis to understand consumer behavior and to identify customer needs, new product research and development, competitive pricing coordinated promotional or sales programs and efficient distribution. Although sales is one part of marketing, the discipline also includes topics such as new product information, pricing, advertising, marketing research, distribution, and many other tasks.

Career Opportunities:
The marketing curriculum emphasizes the skills needed for successful and responsible careers in advertising, promotion, sales and sales management, product management, research, and many other related areas.

Program Description

The(MBA degree program will provide advanced business education beyond the baccalaureate level and to prepare students to assume responsible management and professional positions in private and public organizations. The curriculum has been designed to provide breadth of exposure to business administration disciplines rather than specialization in any single discipline. To accommodate students who also have part-time or full-time careers, Hull MBA course are offered in the evening, online, or executive style.

GPA Requirement

Hull MBA students are to maintain a 2.8 GPA or higher to remain in good academic standing, but will require a 3.0 for graduation.

Time Limitation

All requirements for the Hull MBA degree must be completed within 5 consecutive years.
